The word gig - apart from the conventional computer abreviation usage - 'gigabyte' is also and more commonly used in the UK and Ireland by builders or those who create or mastermind something tangible or at least visable - a stage for example - hence - 'Did you get the gig?' - Yeah we got the gig - We start construction next Tuesday at 6am - call the formwork crew to set out and work off the surveyors drawings!
